Here in the south, we love early June when the Queen Ann's Lace begins to bloom along with other wild flowers in the fields that border the roads to and from various destinations. There is a depth of color that surrounds each white blossom and other blossoms that add to the grasses and stems growing towards the warm sun. The underpainting on the piece is a navy blue which helped set off the blooms and grasses. I noticed in this painting that I liked the right side more than the left, so left it to steep for a few nights before I came back to it. After using a few more alcohol washes to neutralize the left side, I began to rebuild the grasses and blossoms to better complement the rest of the work.
Wild flowers are so lovely when we get the opportunity to stop and appreciate them!
