Sun Flowers grace our home during the summer. I love the light and happiness they reflect. And I enjoy the challenge of painting printed cloth bundled around a vase. These flowers were a gift from a favorite cousin and I wanted to keep them alive through a remembrance of our relationship and joint joy of painting. The underpainting is in tones of blue gray and green except for the flowers. I wanted the tone in the petals to be pure sunshine without muting color underneath. The tiny purple flowers and vines help spread color from side to side in the painting. They eye follows the stripe in the cloth to the vase and up. It is a delight to enjoy the color and memories.
