Hydrangeas have many meanings when you are giving them to someone. Some of my favorite are:
Heartfelt and honest emotions of any kind
Gratitude and thanksgiving to someone else
Developing a deeper understanding between two people
I painted these hydrangea blooms as a wedding gift for a young couple and they have placed it in their dining room. I wanted these blossoms to be light and airy and kept the background lighter also. I like to help some blossoms recede by softening their edges. I so love the way the petals spread out from each other in some cases and curl towards each other in others. Defining the various colors and what the petals are doing is continually interesting as I paint.
