Tensile Grasses sprung from a photo of grasses I took in late summer. I knew that I wanted to do something abstract with the subject matter (as if grass wasn't already abstract in form.) So I began with large swaths of color and then began to work from small at the top to large at the bottom. The painting took on a life of its own and was such a fun ride. Small to big; light to dark; small spots of light danced across the canvas. Blue and purple leaves with pops of Indian Yellow created a canvas that says late summer grass on a bright sunny day.
